Somewhere you won't want to leave

Downstairs, chesterfields by the bookshelf and wide doors that open the whole living room onto the deck. Upstairs, a king bed under the eaves and a free-standing claw-foot bath with the vineyard in front of it from dawn to dusk.

There is a full kitchen if you'd like to cook, and a village full of people who would rather do it for you. The cellar doors are within cycling distance of the square. Most couples manage one or two and then come back to the bath.

Nothing here is compulsory. It's your stay.

Arrive

In from 3pm. Unpack, open the doors, pour something on the deck and watch the light go over the vines. Dinner in the village, five minutes away.

Martinborough

Cellar doors by bike, a long lunch, an afternoon with a book on a chesterfield. Dinner at Karahui, our sister restaurant in the village.

Home, eventually

Breakfast at the Barn or in the village, and a leisurely departure at 11.
